How I learned to trust my spotter after a close call

I was moving a beam on a packed site not long ago. My spotter waved, but I got it wrong and almost hit a scaffold. We started saying each step out loud before I move the crane. It really helps everyone stay on the same page. Now our lifts go smoother with less stress.

Had a foreman who tried that talking thing on my last site. Felt like overkill and just slowed the whole crew down when we already knew our jobs. Honestly sometimes too much talk just creates more confusion.

Hmm, is it really that serious? Sometimes a quick chat can catch big problems before they happen. Like once, a crew skipped the safety talk and someone nearly got hurt. That would've shut down the site for days. So maybe a little overkill is better than a huge mess later. Just my two cents.

Honestly I read this article about how those quick safety talks actually cut down on job site injuries by like 30%. Makes you think.

Yeah, too much chat just messes with the flow sometimes.
