Why do so many operators skip tensioning the track before a pick?
I watched a guy in Tacoma lose 45 minutes and nearly a load last Tuesday because he never checked track tension on a soft pad. Do you all walk the pads before every pick, or only on certain jobs?
Read somewhere that track tension issues cause a good chunk of crane incidents every year, and soft ground makes it way worse. Walking the pads takes two minutes but skipping it can cost you the whole day like that guy in Tacoma. I check every time now, even on jobs where the ground looks solid.
