Rant: Every writing prompt list says "show don't tell" but nobody talks about the word count trap
I found a stat last week from a contest site that said submissions under 1500 words got 3 times more reads than longer ones, and it made me rethink all those "epic 10k word prompt" threads we see here. I always assumed longer meant more room to build, but the data says readers just bounce when the setup drags past a few pages. Has anyone else adjusted their prompt responses after seeing those engagement numbers, or do you stick with the long form no matter what?

That stat tracks with my attention span, so I trimmed my stuff way down.
