Pro tip: I got my mortgage lender to count my rent payments after my credit union said no
I showed my bank 12 months of canceled checks from my apartment in Phoenix, and they added it as a tradeline. Has anyone else found a lender willing to do this?

Honestly, showing 12 months of checks is a solid move. I always figured rent payments were just ignored for credit, so this is news to me. Good on you for pushing the issue, and @theas28 is right, that's a rare win. Makes me wonder how many lenders have a secret policy for this if you just ask the right way.

Man, that's smart. It reminds me of when my buddy tried to use his Netflix subscription history as proof of steady payments for a small loan, which did not work at all. But your thing with the actual checks is way more solid. It's wild how much depends on who you talk to and what paperwork you can dig up. I guess it never hurts to ask and bring every single record you have.
