Saw a 'credit repair housing' sign in a rough part of town and it got me thinking

I was driving through the east side of Cleveland yesterday and saw a small office with a big banner that said 'Credit Fix Homes Now'. The building looked pretty run down, but the sign was brand new and bright. It made me wonder how many of these places are actually legit versus just taking advantage of people. Has anyone here actually bought a house through a program like that?

Yeah, it's a real mixed bag. I see the same thing with those 'we buy ugly houses' signs popping up everywhere now.

Honestly, I used to think they were all scams, but my cousin actually got a decent place through one.

Ugh, those signs are everywhere now. I get what @green.noah is saying that some can work out, but a lot of them feel super shady. They target people who are desperate and might not know their options. I'd be really careful and read every single line of any contract. How do you even tell a good one from a bad one?
