Hot take: I dropped $60 on a password manager and it just caught a duplicate password I've used for years.
It flagged an old forum login that got leaked in a breach, so I changed it before anything bad happened. Anyone else have a close call like that?

What kind of stuff does the paid one catch that the free ones miss? @robinp89 mentioned free ones miss a lot, but I've heard some are pretty solid on the basics. Is it more about watching your credit cards or something else? I'm trying to figure out if the upgrade is just for peace of mind or if there's a real gap in protection.

Good on you for catching that. Just a heads up, a lot of the free ones will flag duplicates and breaches too. The paid ones are great for extra features though.

Nah, free ones miss way too much.

Have you ever had one of those moments where you're staring at a small charge and you're like, "Wait, did I buy that?" I once spent an hour trying to figure out if I actually went to a random coffee shop on a Tuesday or if someone else did. The free ones just spit out the big stuff, but the paid ones will actually dig into those little weird charges that make you feel like you're losing your mind.
