Hot take: I dropped $60 on a password manager and it just caught a duplicate password I've used for years.

It flagged an old forum login that got leaked in a breach, so I changed it before anything bad happened. Anyone else have a close call like that?

What kind of stuff does the paid one catch that the free ones miss? @robinp89 mentioned free ones miss a lot, but I've heard some are pretty solid on the basics. Good on you for catching that. Just a heads up, a lot of the free ones will flag duplicates and breaches too. The paid ones are great for extra features though.
