Drove 2 hours to a dead mall in Waterloo for a "vintage electronics store" that turned out to be one folding table of broken VCRs
A Facebook post said this guy had a whole storefront inside the old Crossroads Mall in Waterloo, so I burned a quarter tank and $15 in tolls to get there. It was one card table in a food court with 6 VCRs that all had chewed up belts and a sign that said "as is, no returns," and the guy would not even come down from $40 each. Has anyone actually found a real hidden shop in a dead mall, or is it always just one sad table and a dream?

Figured the same thing until last spring when a guy in Rockford turned out to be legit, whole back room of a shuttered Sears packed with old radios and cassette decks he actually tested in front of me. He kept odd hours and only posted in a local ham radio group, so nobody stumbled in expecting a store. The Waterloo setup sounds like a reseller flipping junk he got at an estate sale, not a real collector. Half the "hidden shop" posts online are just guys with a storage unit and a dream.
