Paid $30 for a 'free trial' coffee subscription, learned to read the fine print

I signed up for what looked like a one-time mug deal and got hit with a $30 monthly charge for beans I didn't even order. Took me three billing cycles and a nasty call to my bank to kill it, but the refund only came after I threatened a chargeback. Anyone else get trapped by those pop-up checkout offers that bury the subscription terms?

Did you actually read the terms before you hit the button, or did you just click through? These pop-up offers are shady for sure, but they usually say "recurring" somewhere in the small gray text. I get that it's annoying, but three billing cycles is on you for not checking your statement sooner. A quick email to the company after the first charge would've saved you a headache. Most of these places will refund a first month if you just ask.
