That $14 'emergency blanket' on TikTok got me curious
Saw a video claiming it's a must-have for car kits, but the comments were split between people who used it in a storm and folks saying it tears if you look at it wrong. I grabbed one for my trunk last week, and the foil crinkled so loud I could hear it over my radio. Anyone actually relied on these in a real pinch, or is it just a gimmick that keeps the packaging companies rich?

Wait, did the video show them actually deploying it in their car or just laying it out on a table, because there's a big difference between a flat demo and wrestling that crinkly mess onto a wet windshield in the dark. I've seen mountain rescue people talk about using these as a vapor barrier inside a sleeping bag setup, not as a standalone thing, so maybe the real question is whether you're using it the way it actually works or just expecting it to be a blanket. What exactly was the weather like for the people who said it saved them, because I'm guessing that matters a whole lot more than the price tag.
