That $50 'gaming chair' deal on FB Marketplace was a hard lesson
I saw this listing for a 'like new' gaming chair for 50 bucks and jumped on it. The guy said he just didn't use it anymore and needed it gone. Got it home and the gas cylinder was totally shot, seat wouldn't stay up. A buddy at work told me to always test those things in person before paying, and I should've listened. Anyone else get burned by furniture that looked fine in pics?

At least you got a chair shaped paperweight out of it, right? I'm guessing the listing didn't mention it was "like new" if you don't mind sitting on the floor.

Did you try smacking the bottom of the seat with a hammer to see if it pops back up?

Wait, did you actually try that or are you just guessing? I had a buddy who bought a used gaming chair online and ran into the exact same problem - the gas cylinder just gave up. He tried the hammer trick @shanec61 suggested and honestly, it kinda worked for like a week. Then it sank right back down. He ended up just buying a replacement cylinder for like 20 bucks and the chair was good as new. Your mileage may vary though, some of those cheap chairs aren't even worth fixing. Just a heads up from what I saw happen to him.
