Hit 100 debunks on that 'miracle water' article, felt gross about it
I finally crossed 100 posts in this group last Tuesday, and the one that did it was that 'alkaline water cures cancer' piece from a fake wellness blog. The source was a quote from a chiropractor who sold his own brand of water filters, and the study they linked was from 1987 with 12 participants. I spent maybe 4 hours tracing the domain history back to a supplement company in Phoenix, Arizona. But instead of feeling proud, I just felt tired because that article had 200k shares and my breakdown would maybe reach 200 people. It got me thinking about why I even bother when the viral junk always outruns the facts. Anyone else hit a milestone and suddenly question the whole point of this? Or am I just burnt out from the last month of election season nonsense?
You ever see someone put in all that work just to watch it vanish into the void? My buddy spent a whole weekend fact checking some fertility supplement claim, got maybe 50 views, then his cousin shared the same fake article the next day with "so true!!" written on it. He just laughed and closed his laptop for a week.
