Shoutout to the guy who called out that "miracle" water filter article

So I'm scrolling through my feed last Tuesday morning and see this post from some lifestyle blog claiming a $20 gravity filter can turn pond water into bottled spring water. I clicked because I actually own a Berkey and know how these things work. The article had zero lab tests just a guy standing next to a muddy bucket. I pointed out in the comments that even high end filters need maintenance and that silt clogs them fast. Then someone else found the source was a stock photo farm not an actual reviewer. The article got taken down by lunchtime. Has anyone else seen these random blogs just making stuff up about survival gear?

Is it really worth getting worked up over one bad blog post though?

Wait, why do people still believe random blog posts about gear without checking the source first? Honestly, that water filter thing sounds like the worst kind of clickbait. Ngl, I'm glad you called it out because those fake reviews waste everyone's time and money. It's like these bloggers think we won't notice they used a stock photo of a guy holding a bucket. Tbh, I wish there was a way to flag articles that clearly have zero real testing behind them.

Last week I heard a video from a prepper YouTuber who breaks down fake gear reviews like this all the time. He found one blog that copied specs from a real review article but changed the brand name to push their affiliate link. Makes you wonder how many survival gear articles out there are just rewritten Amazon listings with zero hands on testing.

Ugh I started checking author bios and it saved me so much hassle.
