That viral article claiming bed bugs only hide in dirty homes had me fuming for days
I literally caught them crawling out of a brand new mattress at a clean office building in Austin last month, so where did that reporter even get their sources from?

Oh, the "only dirty homes" thing makes me laugh every time. Last year my coworker bought a brand new couch from a big box store and we found bed bugs nesting in the foam within a week. I've basically accepted my fate as the human sacrifice to bed bugs at this point. I must have "bed bug bait" written on my forehead in invisible ink. So yeah, that article can take a long walk off a short pier.

Honestly that invisible ink thing hits close to home. After I got them from a hotel I tried everything and what finally worked was getting a steamer and going over every single seam and crevice in my mattress and couch like three times in a week. Also bought those mattress encasements that zip all the way around, not the cheap ones that rip after a month. Tbh you might want to check your coworkers car too because I found out later they can hide in vehicles and just keep coming back. The whole thing is a nightmare and I don't blame you for feeling like bait.

That couch story is wild but honestly not surprising. My aunt got a "hand sanitizer station" at a garage sale last summer and turns out the dispenser was packed with eggs. She thought she was being safe with the sanitizer but nope. I swear bed bugs are like ninjas with a grudge. Sometimes I wonder if they're just farming us at this point.
