Warning: That "free" antivirus trial cost me $89 a month
I signed up for a free trial of a PC cleaner program last month and forgot to cancel it, then got hit with an $89 charge right before rent was due. Turns out the fine print said the trial auto-renewed at full price after 7 days and they wouldn't refund me. Has anyone else gotten burned by these bait-and-switch software deals?

$89 a month for a PC cleaner? That is robbery.

My brother paid $89 for a "lifetime license" to a PC cleaner back in 2018 and the company went bankrupt two years later. Now I just use the built-in Windows tools and delete old files myself like a caveman. I swear these subscription prices are getting out of hand for software that used to cost $30 once and that was it. Maybe I'm just cheap but spending over a thousand bucks a year on something your computer already does for free feels wild to me. At least when I buy an overpriced coffee I actually enjoy the taste for 20 minutes.

Robbery is a strong word for something you can just ignore. Plenty of people spend way more than that on coffee or streaming services without blinking. If someone doesn't like the price they can just look for free options or alternatives. Not like anyone's forcing you to hand over $89 every month. Seems more like a choice than a crime to me.
