I paid $40 for a "case cracked" vintage lamp on Marketplace, then the seller's own listing photos proved her story was fake
Saw a listing for a ceramic lamp with a hairline crack in the base, she said it was her grandma's and she was sad to let it go for cheap. I drove 25 mins to her apartment in Henderson, handed over the cash, then got home and zoomed in on the original listing pics. Same lamp, same crack, but in her older photos the crack was already there with a price tag of $15 on it from a garage sale sticker she forgot to peel off. So the "grandma" story was total fluff and she just flipped it for double, which honestly isn't a crime but why lie about it? Has anyone else caught a seller in a fake backstory using their own pics?
