Hot take: That viral politician video from last week has a blink pattern that gives it away
I visited a digital forensics lab in Austin and the analyst showed me how real people blink every 3-5 seconds but deep fakes often skip blinks entirely or space them out wrong, has anyone else tried counting blinks to verify videos?

Nah man, I gotta disagree. I tested this on like 20 real videos from my own phone and people blink way more irregularly than that. My buddy blinks twice in 3 seconds when he's nervous on camera and then goes 10 seconds without blinking when he's relaxed.

Ha, I gotta push back hard on that though @grant155! Your buddy's nervous tics don't define how blinking works for everyone, especially in faked videos where people deliberately try to act natural. I've watched a ton of deepfake analysis stuff and the whole point is that real human blinking has a weird, almost random pattern that's super hard to fake. You're telling me your sample of 20 selfies is more reliable than decades of psychology studies on micro-expressions? Not buying it, sorry. Your buddy might be an outlier too, not the norm.

Yeah @nancy_king29, that's actually backwards since studies show nervous people blink more often, not less lol.
