I finally realized why my aunt's 'new' video message looked so weird - she never blinks.

Notice that too, but I figure it's just how some people act on camera. They get stiff and forget normal things like blinking. It never really bothered me.

Yeah, it's like that weird focus thing. You see it when someone's reading a teleprompter, their eyes just glued to the words. Or even in regular Zoom calls, someone will stare dead into the camera without moving for a full minute. It's that same frozen, over-thinking mode. Makes you realize how much tiny, natural stuff we do without even trying.

Put a sticky note next to your camera with a reminder to blink and move a little. It sounds dumb but it works. You have to force those small habits until they feel normal again. Otherwise you just lock up and look like a robot.
