My kid's friend asked if a video of a talking dog was real and it threw me
I was helping my neighbor with his AC unit in Phoenix last Tuesday when his son showed us a clip of a pug giving a weather report. The kid's friend, maybe 10, just looked at us and said 'But how do you know it's not a trick?' That simple question hit different because I realized we're raising a generation that has to ask that about everything. I tried explaining about the weird eye blinks and the fur not moving right, but it felt like teaching a new survival skill. How do you even start explaining this stuff to a 10-year-old without making them paranoid?

You were fixing an AC unit in Phoenix? That’s a death wish.

Wait, Phoenix in the summer? That's not a job, that's a suicide mission. The metal on those units gets hot enough to fry an egg. You could pass out from heat stroke in under an hour if you're not insanely careful. Honestly can't believe anyone would even attempt that repair right now. They must be getting paid a fortune or they're just plain crazy.
