Rant: A fake video of my local mayor got shared around our town Facebook group
Someone made a deepfake of our mayor, Mr. Jenkins, saying he was raising property taxes by 50%, and it spread like crazy last Tuesday. I knew it was off because his mouth movements looked weird and his voice had that flat, robotic tone in a few spots. What's the best way to calmly point out the signs of a fake to people who aren't looking for them?

People get too worked up over this stuff. It's just a dumb video that will be forgotten in a week. Point out the weird mouth and move on.

Right? I got way too deep into the weird elbow joint on that robot from that movie last year (you know the one). Spent a whole weekend watching clips frame by frame, left comments everywhere. My partner finally asked if I was okay. It's been months and I still can't see a trailer without my brain going "but the wrist movement, though.

My entire personality is getting worked up over dumb videos, it's basically my brand. I'll still be talking about that weird mouth thing in six months when everyone else has moved on. My friends have an intervention planned. Maybe I need a hobby that isn't picking apart bad CGI.
