That 30-second clip of my mayor drove me to learn lip-sync checks
Last Tuesday I saw a video of my mayor supposedly announcing a new tax break, and it felt off. The way his head turned was too smooth, like a puppet on a string. I pulled up the city hall stream from that morning, and his real speech had him blinking way more and stuttering on one word. That fake clip had zero stutters and the audio was too crisp against the room echo. I spent the next 3 hours watching side-by-sides and now I always check for mismatched blink rates first. Has anyone else caught a local official video that just felt wrong in the first few seconds?

And that blink rate thing is exactly what I look for now too, after I caught our county commissioner's clip where his mouth moved but his eyes never once twitched. The real press conference had him squinting into the sun the whole time, but the fake one had him staring dead ahead like a robot. It's wild how our brains pick up on those tiny details, once you know what to look for, you can't unsee it.
