Sent a 3am text to my ex in Dallas, now her brother won't return my smoker
Last week I sent a text at 3am to my ex in Dallas that I thought was harmless, just a 'hey hope you're good' kind of thing. I tried to delete it but my phone kept it in the cloud and she saw it when she woke up at 6. She screenshotted it and sent it to her brother, who has my $300 smoker. I spent 9 hours over 2 days apologizing and explaining it was a pocket text, but he still won't give it back. I finally just bought a new one on Amazon for $180. My advice to you all: put your phone in a different room before you drink. Has anyone else lost something way bigger than a text over a dumb message?
Learned that lesson when my ex kept my $500 grill over some drunk voicemail I don't even remember leaving. What worked was having a mutual friend pick it up so we didn't have to deal with each other at all. Next time just send someone neutral to grab your stuff and skip the drama.
