The $60 ultrasonic cleaner that made me eat my words about injectors

I always figured those ultrasonic cleaners were for watch guys and jewelers, not diesel work. Last month my shop foreman in Denver made me run a set of CR injectors through one before we even talked about replacement. I was ready to call it a gimmick but after 20 minutes in the tank and a good air blowout, two of the three injectors flowed within spec on the bench. We saved the customer about $1,100 versus new parts and the truck has been running smooth for three weeks now. Has anyone else had good luck with ultrasonic cleaning on pump parts, or did I just get a lucky set?

And if the tank did most of the work, imagine what it could do for a fuel pump that's just sticky, not totally shot. That's why I keep thinking the real win here is catching issues early before they turn into a full replacement job.

Oh man, that's so true. It's like with so many things, right? A little maintenance goes a long way before you're stuck with the big fix.
