Warning: 68RFE trans filter delete bit me after 30k miles

So I pulled the factory spin-on filter on my 2014 Ram 2500 and put in the delete kit with the big in-line screen. Everyone on here swears by it for flow and pressure, but at 30k miles I started getting a faint whine on cold starts. Dropped the pan last weekend and the screen was clogged with fine clutch material, the factory paper filter would have caught that stuff. I learned the hard way that the delete is fine for mild builds but not for daily towing in Phoenix heat. Anyone else run a delete and see premature wear on the converter or clutch packs?

Did you try going back to the stock filter and flushing everything too, @maxl93? Same thing happened to me at around 28k miles, I swapped back and changed the fluid, and the whine went away pretty quick. That screen just ain't meant for the daily grind, it's a race part for sure.

man i went through the same thing on my 6.7. put the delete in and loved the extra flow but after about 25k the trans started acting funny especially in traffic. i pulled the filter out and went back to the factory one, the screen just doesnt catch the fine stuff. i also dropped the pan and cleaned everything out and flushed the cooler lines, havent had an issue since but i run a heavier duty fluid now just for peace of mind. honestly the delete is only good if youre doing track pulls or sled pulls, not for real work.
