Booth setup critique from a stranger made me question my whole art style
I was tabling at a small convention in Akron last month, showing my digital prints. A guy stopped, looked at my display for maybe 30 seconds, then said 'your colors pop but your subjects all look like they're waiting for a bus.' At first I was annoyed, but now I can't unsee it. My characters are just standing there, no action or story in the poses. Does anyone else get thrown by a random comment like that, or do you find it actually pushes your work to places you'd never try on your own? I'm debating whether to rework my series or just lean into that quiet vibe and claim it's intentional.
