Debate: Do you have to draw traditionally first before going digital?

I started digital art back in 2019 using just a mouse and Photoshop, no tablet or anything. Took me like 6 months to figure out line art because I had zero hand-eye coordination. Now I use a Wacom Intuos and sketch straight into Clip Studio, but I wonder if skipping traditional paper practice held me back. My buddy from Denver swears by sketching on paper first, then scanning it in. What's your take, do you need those old school skills or can you jump straight into digital these days?

Oh man, I feel this so hard. Started digital with just a mouse too back in 2020 and my lines looked like wiggly worms for months. Actually think skipping paper helped me in some ways because I got used to the screen and pressure sensitivity from day one. My cousin swears by sketching in a moleskine first though, says it helps her plan compositions before touching the tablet. Do you ever go back to paper now to practice fundamentals, or is it all digital all the time?

Stick a sketchbook in your day bag and doodle during lunch, keeps your hand loose without pressure.
