Hit 50,000 unread emails and it hit me different. Is that a wake up call or a badge of honor?

Yesterday I checked my Gmail for something from my landlord and saw the counter tick past 50,000 unread. I've been in this group for a while and always thought I was just a casual hoarder, but that number made me stop. Half of those are probably newsletters I signed up for in 2016 and forgot. But here's the thing, part of me feels proud of that number, like a collection. The other part knows it's a mess I'll never dig out of. Is hitting a milestone like this the point where you finally clean up, or does it just make you want to keep going to see how high it gets? Has anyone else had a number that made them rethink their whole setup? I'm at 78 tabs on my phone browser too, but that feels normal somehow.

Whoa, okay, I gotta push back on the badge of honor thing. That number is just a pile of digital junk, not a collection. It's like being proud of a closet full of clothes you'll never wear again, but somehow the mess is stressing you out more than the stuff itself.

Honestly @daniel_cooper34 is right, that stress hit me at 30k and I just deleted everything older than 5 years in one go, took like 20 minutes and felt way lighter after. Now I just unsubscribe as stuff comes in and keep it under 5k, way less mental weight than trying to sort through the junk.
