Just hit 12,000 unread emails and I'm honestly relieved

I finally looked at my Gmail after ignoring it for like 9 months, and it's at 12,347 unread. I thought I'd freak out but instead I felt free because it's too much to fix now, so I just archive everything older than last week. Have any of you just given up on inbox zero and started fresh with a filter system?
