Cafe owner in Medellin made me rethink my whole work setup

I spent three weeks in Medellin last spring and kept going to this small cafe in El Poblado with terrible wifi. The owner, a guy named Carlos, told me he purposely kept the signal weak so people would talk to each other instead of staring at laptops. At first I thought he was crazy, but after a few afternoons I noticed I was actually getting more real work done in shorter bursts without the constant ping of notifications. That experience convinced me to start booking short stays in less connected places on purpose, and now I split my time between proper coworking spots and places like that cafe. Has anyone else tried working from intentionally slow internet spots, or is that just a recipe for missed deadlines?

Damn, that's actually kinda genius. Might be the push I need to finally unplug.
