Unpopular opinion: My manager's rigid weekly sync made me a better digital nomad
I thought those fixed Monday calls were just corporate nonsense (you know, like pointless busywork). But after missing one while in a different country, I saw how it kept my tasks from piling up. Now I use that time to set clear goals for the week, no matter where I am. It turned a chore into my main planning tool, which honestly surprised me.

chen.olivia has a point. My friend was a total mess trying to work from Bali last year. She kept forgetting time zones and her work just piled up. Then her boss made her do a short 15 minute call every Wednesday. She said it forced her to look at her list and pick three main things to finish. It stopped her from just floating around and actually getting stuff done.

Hate to admit when corporate structure actually works. Guess even a broken clock is right twice a day, or in this case, every Monday.

Last spring, our manager made us do a 20 minute call every Friday. It felt like a waste because we already updated our tasks in the system. @chen.olivia, that broken clock idea might fit here, but for us it just added more meetings. People started rushing through lists just to have something to say. The real work got pushed to late nights when we could focus. In the end, it killed our flexibility and made everyone resent the structure.

Feel that so hard. It turns into a box-ticking exercise instead of real talk. Really kills the vibe when you have to make up work just to fill the time.
