Visa runs in Chiang Mai took me 3 weeks to sort out
I showed up thinking I could just pop to the border and come back, but the rules changed in 2023 and suddenly I needed proof of funds and a return ticket. Three trips to immigration and two failed border attempts later, I finally got my 60 day extension. Anyone else get burned by outdated blog posts about Thai visas?

Landed in Laos thinking I'd just renew there, ended up stuck in a hostel playing cards for five days.

Did your friend try the Mae Sot crossing, or did they get stuck doing the same dance with the 60-day extension? My buddy spent a whole week in Chiang Rai waiting on paperwork that the agent said would take two days.
