Before divorce I did all the laundry, after I split it 50/50 and it's been 8 months now

My ex used to say I was 'better at folding' so I did 100% of the laundry for 12 years. Now we each do our own and I'm down to 2 loads a week instead of 8. Has anyone else had a chore split that totally changed after the divorce?

Totally feel this one. I was the 'dishwasher loader' for 15 years because my ex said I did it better. Ngl, it was just her excuse to never touch a dirty plate again. Now I live alone and run the dishwasher maybe twice a week. It's wild how much extra work you do when you're carrying the mental load for someone else's preferences. Honestly, the time savings alone is worth the split.

Better at folding" - yep, I heard that one too. My ex said I did the towels nicer. Turns out she just didn't want to do them. Glad you're down to two loads now, that sounds way more manageable.

And honestly, I used to be the guy who thought being 'better' at something was just a nice compliment. But after living alone for a bit, I realized I wasn't actually better at folding towels - I was just the only one doing them. Changed my whole view on who was really carrying the weight in that relationship.
