Update: My tile saw died halfway through a bathroom floor in Tacoma

I was cutting 12 inch porcelain tiles when the motor just quit, so I had to finish the cuts with a cheap angle grinder and a diamond blade. It actually gave me cleaner edges on the tricky corner pieces once I got the hang of it. Has anyone else had to finish a big job with a backup tool that ended up working better?

Heard a contractor say his wet saw died on a backsplash job last month. He finished with a snap cutter and said the lines were way straighter and faster. Sometimes the backup plan is just the better plan, lol.

Yeah, I read a tile setter's blog post where he said he only uses a snap cutter for straight cuts on anything under 24 inches. He argued that unless you're doing a ton of complex angles, the manual cutter gives you more control and less mess to clean up.
