My bathroom vanity started leaking from a weird spot yesterday

I was cleaning up after dinner when I saw a small puddle under the cabinet. The leak wasn't from the drain or the supply lines, it was coming from a tiny crack in the back corner of the sink basin itself. I guess it's just old. I didn't want to replace the whole thing right now, so I dried it out completely and tried a two-part epoxy putty made for wet surfaces. I roughed up the area with sandpaper first, kneaded the putty for a minute, and packed it into the crack. It set up in about 20 minutes and seems to be holding. Has anyone else had a sink crack like this? Wondering if this fix will last or if I'm just buying time.

Ugh, that's the worst kind of leak. Good call on the epoxy putty, that stuff can be a lifesaver. How old is that sink anyway?

My neighbor had a sink that was probably original to his 1950s house. The leak started as a tiny drip under the rim, right where you couldn't see it. He tried that epoxy putty as a quick fix, and it held for a little while. The problem was the whole fixture was just worn out, brittle from age. He ended up having to replace the whole thing a few months later when it cracked in another spot. Sometimes those old fixtures are just past their prime.

Totally, that epoxy saved my old bathroom sink for years.
