Pro tip: The Whole Foods parking rule hit me hard last Saturday

I parked in the 'family only' spots at the Whole Foods in Austin last weekend because my kid was with me. An employee walked up and told me those spots are only for families with TWO kids or more. Meanwhile I saw a guy park his single-occupancy Tesla in the handicapped spot without a placard and nobody said a word. Has anyone else dealt with these weird parking rules that seem to target one group over another?

Is this really worth getting worked up about? Parking spot rules vary by store and sometimes they enforce them, sometimes they don't. Seems like you found a spot, had your kid with you, and nobody towed you or wrote you a ticket.

Last time I parked in a spot like that at a grocery store off Route 9, the manager came out and told me it was for expectant mothers only - my kid was 2 at the time. I just pointed at the empty spaces and said they weren't gonna tow a minivan with a toddler in it, and he just shrugged and walked off. @lucast81 is right, most stores don't care enough to enforce those rules unless you're causing a scene or blocking the fire lane. If no one bothered you about it, I'd say you're fine, just don't make a habit of it on Saturday afternoons when they're actually watching.
