Lost a $400 detail job because my scale was off by 7mm
Was working on a commercial kitchen counter spec for a client in Portland last Wednesday. Got to the install and the whole thing sat 7mm proud of the wall because I didn't double check the scale on my plotter. Anyone else ever get burned by trusting your machine too much on a tight deadline?

Trust the tools" haha yeah right I learned that lesson the hard way too. 7mm sounds tiny but try explaining that to a client who wanted flush with a 400 buck invoice. Guess we all need a reminder that machines lie and calipers never do.

Man that's brutal. 7mm is nothing but it's everything on a commercial job. I had a CNC file glitch once and cut a bunch of cabinet parts 3mm short. Client wanted them tight like a glove.
The worst part is you feel stupid after. Like how did I not catch that. But deadlines get crazy and you just trust the tools.
My buddy runs a print shop and he measures every plotter output now with calipers. Says it's saved him more than once.
Hot kitchens are no joke with tolerances. Heat expands everything. Hope you can salvage that client somehow.
