Overheard a project manager say 'just eyeball it' on a call yesterday

I was sitting in on a coordination meeting for a new office build in Austin. The PM actually told the electrical team to just eyeball the conduit runs because the BIM model was behind. I wanted to scream. We all know how that ends, right? Guys pulling 3 inches too high and hitting the fire sprinkler lines. Has anyone else had to deal with a PM who thinks precision is optional?

Just tell them you'll get right on that... after they sign a waiver for the rework.

Oh the waiver thing is such a mood. I actually heard a story recently about a designer who made clients sign something basically saying "you asked for this, don't blame me" before any major rework. It got shared around a lot because everyone's been burned by that. But honestly, even with a waiver, people still find ways to complain later. Maybe it's just me but I feel like the real trick is getting them to agree to a specific scope in writing first, not after the fact. Still, that waiver idea is pretty solid for those nightmare clients who want to argue everything.

lol "after they sign a waiver" is exactly the energy I need in my life. I've been burned so many times by clients coming back with "well I thought you meant something different" after I already did the work for free. Honestly I'd probably trip over myself trying to explain the waiver and end up just doing the rework anyway because I hate awkward conversations. Classic me move - get walked all over and then complain about it later.
