Switched from a cutterhead to a plain suction dredge on a muddy pond job last month

The cutterhead kept getting tangled in roots and trash, but the plain suction just slurped everything up with way less downtime, has anyone else found that a simpler setup works better for certain conditions?

Yeah totally, @scott.olivia I had the same thing happen on a trashy pond last year (plain suction just kept running).

Yeah the "plain suction" thing is a real pain... I found that pulsing the suction on and off helped break through that clay layer without having to switch to a cutterhead.

Nah cutterheads chew through muck way faster when you hit that tough clay layer.
