Changed my mind about those fiberglass mesh corner beads

Always thought they were junk for new builds. Used them on a Reno job in Tacoma where the old plaster walls were a mess. They bent around the weird angles way better than metal. No cracks after a full season change. Anyone else switch over for repair work?

My uncle's 1920s bungalow in Spokane had these crazy curved archways. I used the mesh stuff there about five years back and it's still perfect. It's like what grant347 said about the right tool... sometimes the new material is the tool. Metal would have been a total fight on those curves.

Sometimes the old way isn't the best way, and we just need a better tool.

Ever try to cut a straight line on old, wavy trim with a hand saw? It's a nightmare. A good miter saw with a laser guide makes it look easy. Same with stripping paint, a heat gun is way better than a chemical stripper that never works right. The right tool just changes the whole job.

Yeah they're a lifesaver on old houses... metal just fights you on those uneven walls. Stuck with them for any plaster repair now.
