The day a 14-foot ceiling in a Charleston renovation nearly broke me

Last Thursday, I was on a historic home job where the homeowner insisted on keeping the original 14-foot plaster ceiling height, but we had to board over it. My lift crapped out halfway through, and I spent five hours on stilts with 5/8-inch sheets. My neck still hurts. Anyone else have a nightmare story about working on a crazy high ceiling?

Honestly, the worst part for me is the cleanup after a job like that. All that dust and debris from that height just settles over everything, and you're finding plaster dust in weird places for days. It gets into all your tools and your truck, feels like you never really finish the job.

Ever try a leaf blower on the truck bed? Works wonders for that final dust layer.

My lungs are basically a drywall filter now.
