Wasted $150 on cheap automatic taping tools

Wasted 4 hours fixing my own mud mix because I skipped the drill attachment for my mixer. Had to hand-stir a 5 gallon bucket and got lumps everywhere. What mixer paddle do you guys swear by?

I burned $80 on a cheap paddle from Home Depot and it started wobbling on the first bucket. The welds gave out by the third mix. I ended up borrowing a friend's Mixer Mate paddle and that thing is solid. The steel ring on the bottom kept the wobble away and it actually broke down the mud smooth. I'd say spend the $40 on a good one, it saves your back and your time.

Dude, totally agree with you @paul_ramirez. That "steel ring on the bottom" part is exactly what makes the difference. I had the same thing happen with a cheap paddle from Lowes, welds snapped on the second bucket. Borrowed my buddy's Mixer Mate and was shocked how smooth it mixed, no wobble at all. That ring really does keep it from bending sideways when the mud gets thick. Saves your arms too, I was way less tired after a full day of mudding. Its one of those things where you think you're saving money but you're really just buying a headache.
