Hit $12,000 in home care costs last month and it finally clicked

I added up all the receipts from my mom's in-home care for last month. Between the part-time nurse, the meal delivery service, and the medical supplies it came to $12,400. That was way more than I expected. We had been paying piece by piece and I never stopped to look at the total. Now I realize we are burning through her savings way faster than planned. I need to find cheaper options for some of these services. Has anyone else hit a number like this and found ways to cut it down without sacrificing quality of care?

I read that some states have programs to help cover home care costs if you qualify. Have you checked if your mom's insurance or any local nonprofits offer discounted meal services?
