Component-level repair is dying, and it's our fault
I've watched repair shops move away from fixing individual parts to just swapping boards. This not only jacks up prices but also creates more e-waste. Shouldn't we be pushing back against this trend?

I used to think swapping whole boards was just progress, but seeing the e-waste pile up changed my mind. It's like what @abby_martinez said about losing skills for convenience, but here we're losing the skill to fix things and making a bigger mess. Now I save old circuit boards to practice soldering, trying to keep that knowledge alive.

Feels like we've all traded skill for convenience, sadly.

What skill do you see disappearing? My friend had to YouTube how to boil an egg because she only uses the microwave.
