My brother-in-law who works on cranes said elevator safety codes are too strict and slow down work, and I actually thought about it for a week.

Honestly, the paperwork is the easy part to complain about. The real question is whether a rule is about saving time or saving fingers. I'd ask him for one example of a code he thinks is pointless, then look up the accident report that probably inspired it.

Ngl, the mental image of me trying to figure out crane codes is pretty funny. I got stuck on the paperwork part too, like whether signing a form in blue ink instead of black would actually make the crane fall over. My brain just short-circuited trying to decide if some rules are just annoying or secretly life-saving.

Your brother-in-law said the codes slow down work, but I keep wondering what "too strict" really means. Like, are we talking about extra paperwork strict, or "don't skip the backup brake" strict? A week is a long time to think about it, so what part of the rules got you stuck?
