I was all about intense peels for breakouts before. Now I begin with softer methods and it prevents so much unnecessary redness, lol.

Totally get that, @faithk99. I ruined my skin barrier once by going full force right away. Now I do a test patch for a week, no joke.

So how do you decide when to move from a gentle method to something stronger? Like if a mild salicylic acid wash isn't cutting it, what's your sign to try a prescription retinoid without setting your face on fire? I always second guess the timing.

Oh same! I used to just jump in with the strong stuff too. Learned the hard way that starting slow saves your skin so much grief.
