Spent $200 on a fancy LED face mask. Total waste.

Bought it two years ago after seeing all the hype. Used it for a month and saw zero difference in my skin. Has anyone else had luck with those things or am I not the only one?

Wait, so you're saying even if I actually used it long enough, a $200 mask might literally not have enough power to do anything? @nelson.wren that honestly makes me wonder if anyone who saw results from these things just happened to buy the expensive ones.

Dr. Hamblin at Yale did a study on this and found that anything under 100mW/cm2 is basically a nightlight for your face. Most of those $200 masks are pushing maybe 20-30mW if you're lucky. @nelson.wren is right about the wavelength thing too, you need 660nm and 850nm specifically, not some random red bulb. The funny thing is I've seen people swear by those cheap amazon masks and I wonder if it's just the placebo effect kicking in hard.

Remember seeing some dermatologist on YouTube break down the science on these masks. Said red light therapy can work but you need a certain strength and wavelength. Most cheap masks don't have enough power to do anything. The good ones cost way more than $200. Read somewhere that you also have to use them consistently for like 3-4 months before seeing any real changes. So probably not your fault, just bad luck with the product.
