Everyone says you need a standing desk for back pain, but I fixed mine with a $15 kneeling chair instead

After three years of lower back issues from sitting, I grabbed one of those old-school kneeling chairs off Craigslist and my pain dropped by about 80% in two weeks. Has anyone else ditched the expensive ergonomic setup for something simple?

So about the hip angle thing, that part is actually backwards. I read that kneeling chairs work more by tilting your pelvis forward which keeps your spine in its natural curve. The hip angle does open up a bit but its mostly about keeping your lower back from collapsing into that C-shape you get in a regular office chair. I had the same issue with standing desks, ended up leaning on a stool half the day. But my kneeling chair from a garage sale for 8 bucks sorted me out better than the motorized desk my buddy spent 400 on.

Man I look like a praying mantis hunched over in mine but hey my back stopped screaming at me so I'll take the weird looks from my dogs.

The praying mantis thing is too real. I read somewhere that kneeling chairs work because they open up your hip angle, which takes pressure off your lower spine. Its not about looking cool, its about not having your back seizing up by 3pm. I tried a standing desk for a month and just ended up leaning on one leg with my hip jutting out. The kneeling chair forces you to sit upright without thinking about it.
