Saw a whole street of 'silent' restaurants in Portland last weekend

I was in the Alberta Arts District and noticed three new spots with signs about 'quiet dining' and no music. One place, The Still Table, even had a note saying talking should be 'library-level'. It felt super peaceful but also a bit weird. Is this quiet food trend just a Portland fad, or is it the future of eating out? Would you try a restaurant like that?

My partner and I accidentally booked a silent yoga retreat once, same idea. We spent a whole weekend communicating with notepads, even to ask for more coffee. It was strangely nice, but I missed laughing out loud.

Honestly that sounds amazing after my last dinner where the table next to us was screaming about crypto.

Were they really screaming, @avery_flores? Sounds like a normal Tuesday to me.
