Spent 8 hours trying to fix a slow drainage problem in my rental house in Tucson
Turned out the previous owner used landscape fabric under the gravel in a french drain that was supposed to last 20 years, but it just clogged with silt after 3 seasons, so now I gotta dig it all up and replace it with filter fabric that actually works - has anyone else dealt with a fancy yard trick that backfired way harder than expected?
Oh man, that's rough... I had something similar happen with a "permanent" weed barrier I put under some river rock in my backyard. It was supposed to be this heavy duty stuff but it just fell apart after one monsoon season and now I'm pulling shreds of fabric out of the dirt every time I garden. Worst part is the guy at the hardware store swore it would last forever, figures...
