Honestly, the whole 'outrage' over that new coffee shop sign in Portland last week was so fake.
Tbh, it was a slow news day and some local blog posted a photo of a new cafe sign that just said 'Coffee & Pastries'. They wrote a whole article saying it was 'erasing local history' because the building used to be a bookstore. For three days, my feed was full of people who've never even been to Oregon acting like it was a huge deal. Ngl, it was the most obvious made-up drama I've seen in months. The owner just wanted a simple sign. Has anyone else noticed these local non-stories blowing up online lately?

Seriously, who has the energy to get mad about a coffee shop sign. It's a sign. The building used to be something else, so what. People need to find real problems.

Oh man, @wilson.olivia, you're so right. I once got weirdly heated because a new pizza place painted over the old mural of a dancing taco. I was like, "That taco had heritage!" Then I realized I was yelling about wall art while my actual trash can was overflowing. It's funny what we pick to care about. Some folks will debate a building's past life for hours but ignore the pothole wrecking their own car.

You yelled about a dancing taco mural? That's amazing.
