Changed my mind about those solar string lights after seeing them at a campsite
I was at Lake Lurleen State Park last weekend and watched some cheap solar lights from Target flicker out by 9pm while the neighbors' higher-end ones from a brand called NiteSun were still going strong at 2am. I asked the guy and he said his were $60 for a 50-foot set, not the $15 ones I always grab. Now I'm thinking the cheap route might not be worth it if you actually want light past dusk. Anyone else find a solar light brand that holds up longer than a few months?

Wait $60 for string lights? That's insane.

$60? That's like buying a steak dinner and then just using it to keep paper from flying off your desk. But hey at least your neighbors will be the ones looking like a runway at 2am while you're fumbling for your phone flashlight.

I grabbed a set of Sunbeam brand lights from Walmart for $20 and they've been hanging on my back porch for two years straight now through rain and heat. The key I found is bringing them inside when winter hits because the battery cells freeze and crack. Those NiteSun ones probably have lithium ion packs instead of the cheap nickel ones. I'd rather spend $60 once than $15 every spring.
